A fictionalized biographical retelling of the life of acclaimed Japanese author Yukio Mishima, in which episodes from his writing are interwoven with tales from his life. Besides his life as a prolific writer, Mishima was an outspoken nationalist who formed his own private militia called the Tatenokai. His militia would go on to execute a failed, yet meticulously planned, "coup" of a nearby military base, during which Mishima and two others committed ritual suicide.
